Service Express Finance Organization is a global multi‐million dollar third‐party maintenance provider specializing in data center maintenance and managed services for server, storage and networking equipment. In the last four years, it has acquired several companies increasing its revenue by $100M+ from its core business. Service Express’ core competency is to provide post‐warranty support solutions by helping IT professionals reduce costs and experience an outstanding level of user‐friendly service. Service Express is private-equity owned by Harvest Partners, a premier private-equity firm located in New York.

As Service Express is growing, so is its finance organization to support this global expansion. As such, it is looking for a Director of Accounting, CPA, a key leadership role, to provide strategic insight and oversee all international and domestic accounting functions through experiences learned at similar to larger organizations. A successful candidate will be able to manage the core accounting requirements as listed below and provide accounting insights strategically on how to manage profitable organic and inorganic growth.

This Director of Accounting, CPA position will serve as Corporate Controller and do the following:

Strategic Requirements

  • Prepare financial packages that provide unique, curious insights on how to improve the business for Harvest Partners and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
  • Identify accounting policies and practices globally that can help improve growth and profitability for firm.
  • Manage external third-party resources to execute pipeline programs that improve business (e.g DSO, DPO, Tax)
  • Manage interface with VP, FP&A to jointly generate functional pipeline of opportunities to improve profitability of firm.

Core Requirements

  • Experience with leading an accounting team with locations globally.
  • Hire and train a world class accounting organization
  • Execute monthly preparation of accurate and timely consolidated financial statements and reports.
  • Ensure proper analytical review of the asset operations from a balance sheet, income statement and cash flow
  • Be a curious constant learner
  • Direct the preparation of internal consolidated financial statements
  • Proactively develop relationships with the business unit heads, operational staff to help them run their business
  • Manage external auditor and audit requirements
  • Drive the accounting and operational control programs
  • Prepare annual global tax returns with outside CPA firm
  • Assist with mergers and acquisitions due diligence and integration

 Qualified candidates should possess the following:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting
  • 10+ years’ experience in progressive Accounting roles within a medium-size growth company or large global corporation is required
  • CPA license required
  • Public accounting (Audit) experience is highly desirable, although not a requirement
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and ability to research/implement technical items
  • Experience with M&A integration and foreign exchange reporting
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism and executive-level presence
  • Ideally this person will report to our Grand Rapids office
