Data Center Hardware FAQ
Aside from our current generation IBM Hardware offerings, our new hardware is model-specific. We have new hardware available for certain models; others, we only have refurbished. Contact us to learn more about our current inventory.
Recertified:
Many OEMs have their own term for what they consider “Factory Recertified” equipment. Examples include Dell Recertified, HPE Renew, Cisco Excess, etc. This equipment is typically overstock or an unused return. The system was initially built and configured by the manufacturer, but once it’s customized or leaves the factory, it can no longer be considered “new.”
Refurbished:
Refurbished means hardware has been reconfigured, retested and updated according to our stringent testing standards. The difference between a refurbished solution and an OEM recertified solution is the eligibility for OEM support. Refurbished systems are no longer eligible for OEM coverage, although many have open-source firmware and software updates. Our refurbished hardware solutions are often bundled with Data Center Maintenance.
Equipment such as Dell Recertified, HPE Renew or Cisco Excess is eligible for an OEM warranty. All other equipment is eligible for our Data Center Maintenance services.
We offer fully configured and customized servers, storage and networking equipment in addition to onsite installation, VMware configurations, etc.
It depends on the model. Generally speaking, all x86 servers have open-access firmware updates. Storage arrays and networking equipment vary in their software update policies. Our hardware consultants can confirm if firmware is available for your equipment.
