Growth Drives Additional Corporate Office for Service Express

October 2, 2018

Grand Rapids, MI– Service Express, a leading third-party maintenance (TPM) provider headquartered in Michigan, has opened their second headquarters building in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The new location is at 3855 Sparks Drive SE, in close proximity to the existing Broadmoor headquarters building, and houses close to 100 team members.

“This new facility is a direct result of our continued growth as a company,” said Service Express President and CEO Ron Alvesteffer. “We remain committed to providing the resources our team needs to do the best for our customers, and our new Sparks building ensures we are staying ahead of the curve.”

A $200K state-of-the-art data center was built from the ground up in the facility. This data center is one of the first in the U.S. to use all-white Panduit cabinets and patch panels for improved light coefficient. The humidity-controlled room features flooring with copper-infused glue for anti-static protection, and the flooring itself is grounded to the building. TheECARO-25®fire suppression system utilizes a non-ozone-depleting clean agent.

Everything in the data center is fully redundant, and it runs on a full room battery backup. The cable management system throughout keeps all lines on their own track so they never cross over another line, ensuring maximum organization and fast access for troubleshooting.

“We were excited to have the opportunity to design and implement our new Sparks data center,” said Systems Administrator Jerry Gran. “Because one of the services we offer is data center relocations, we wanted to really showcase how functional and aesthetically pleasing we could make the space.”

Progressive AE designed the new office with a modern industrial feel and First Construction oversaw the buildout of the approximately 40,000 sq. ft. space. Service Express team members at the new Sparks location enjoy a collaborative layout furnished by Integrity Office, and waterfront views with access to an outdoor space with a grill and picnic tables.

The new building employs LED lights throughout and features a “daylight harvesting” system along the entire perimeter to reduce energy consumption. Photosensor boxes are outfitted in the rafters along the edge of the building, and as daylight changes during the day a central controller operating from the server room dims the lights in response.

The Sparks location includes four Zoom Rooms, which host the Software-Defined Video Conferencing System. Service Express is utilizing some of the best technology on the market for these rooms, including intelligent zoom cameras to match the number of users in the room, wireless charging iPads as Zoom Room controllers, and in-ceiling microphones and speakers to allow for seamless audio with a clean look.

The new office is located at 3855 Sparks Dr. SE, Grand Rapids, MI, 49546.
